The Summer Solstice Celebration
The Līgo Festival is the most important Latvian celebration of the year, marking the summer solstice — the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Drawing around a thousand people, we have organized this festival, open to the public, since 2014.
The 12th Līgo Festival will take place on June 6, 2026, cementing its place as one of the region's leading cultural events. Artists coming directly from Latvia bring music, dance and ancestral traditions, while the local community gathers around the bonfire to celebrate life, nature and togetherness.
The Līgo Festival is a family-friendly environment that warmly welcomes children, young people and seniors alike. You don't need Latvian ancestry or any prior knowledge of Latvian culture — everyone is welcome to take part in this unique celebration of music, dance, traditional food and togetherness around the traditional bonfire.

Activities and Goals
Traditional Bonfire
The centerpiece of the celebration. Lit at sunset, the bonfire brings everyone together for music, dancing and togetherness.
Musicians from Latvia
Artists coming directly from Latvia bring traditional music with traditional instruments and ancestral songs.
Folk Dancing
Traditional Latvian dance performances with traditional costumes and choreography that tells ancestral stories.
Flower Crowns
Workshops to make the traditional flower crowns worn during the celebration. Everyone can take part and take their crown home.
Latvian Food
Traditional Latvian dishes: roasted chicken, piragi (stuffed pastries), traditional salads and homemade desserts.
Family Togetherness
A welcoming environment for all ages. Children, young people and seniors celebrate together in a safe, inclusive space.

Our Timeline
At every edition of the Līgo Festival, we pay special tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to preserving and promoting Latvian culture. Volunteers, educators, artists and everyone who has gone above and beyond to keep our heritage alive receive the honor of lighting the traditional bonfire — a symbolic gesture representing the passing of the cultural flame from one generation to the next.
To enrich our festival, we welcome musicians coming directly from Latvia every year, who cross the ocean to share with us the authenticity of the songs, dances and melodies of our ancestral homeland. Their presence turns the Līgo Festival into a living bridge between Brazil and Latvia, between past and present, between memory and celebration.
